On a winding High Street lined with sooty Victorian piles, the 400-year-old Harrow School is home to the Harrow boys: privileged adolescents known as much for their distinctive dress and code as for their cruelty and wit. It is the hope of 17-year-old Andrew Taylor’s father that the esteemed British institution’s obscure rules will put distance between Andrew and his sordid past back home in the States.
But trouble—and danger—seems to follow the young American. Andrew quickly finds himself an outcast, spurned by nearly all his peers. And there is the pale, strange boy who begins to visit him at night. Either he is losing his mind, or the house legend about Andrew’s dormitory being haunted is true.
With the help of the school’s poet-in-residence, Piers Fawkes, who has been commissioned to write a play about Lord Byron, one of Harrow’s most famous alumni, Andrew discovers he bears a striking resemblance to the famous poet.
Justin Evans’ The White Devil will hold you in its thrall as frightening and tragic events from the past start to mirror Andrew’s reality. Soon, he will be forced to delve into a 200-year-old mystery that threatens the lives of his last loyal friends—as well as his own.

Very disappointed. I think the writer wanted to write a better book but just couldn't pull it together. Found it derivative and the ending was telegraphed a mile away. Kept hoping it would get better which is why, I think, I finally finished it.
